My Story

My Roots

I grew up in a small town located in Valdosta, GA just north of the Florida line.

Raised in a single-parent household by my mom who couldn't provide much of the extras financially but surely provided when it came to morals, and how to treat people.  I've always had "grand ideas" and always thought "outside the box" and she always supported those ideas.  She still is my #1 cheerleader.

My passion for real estate started around the age of 7.  I would get the little real estate magazines out of the boxes in front of the grocery store and circle my favorite dream homes.

I believe this love for real estate stemmed from my family roots.  My grandmother, now retired, was an active Realtor for over 35 years. I remember one afternoon, (actually, it was Christmas day), and she was cooking dinner when her home phone rang (yep, home phone), and the call was from a client wanting to see a house. She asked me if I wanted to go show the house with her, and without any hesitation, I jumped in the car ready to see her in action.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. As I was watching Grandma with her clients walking through the house, they were all smiling and laughing. I remember thinking to myself, "WOW! I want to be able to make people smile and bring joy to them like that"!

Before TicTok was ever even thought of making up dances & singing into candlesticks with my cousins was what most summers consisted of.

Going For It

I have always had a strong work ethic.  At 15, I got my first job waiting tables after school, and it was then that I realized how much I genuinely loved people. I loved hearing their stories and learning about their life journeys.  I realized how we are all so special & unique in our own ways.

I knew growing up that I did't want to work a "9-5", I knew I wanted to make a difference somehow, but coming from a small town with no money, the options were limited.  Even though I knew the odds were against me, I refused to settle.

Around the age of 19 and thinking back to my childhood, I set my goal of becoming a Realtor and decided to go for it.  I packed my car with a few hundred dollars to my name and moved to North Georgia.

A few months later, I got my real estate license, and hit the ground running!

Figuring It Out

I learned really quick, that what I had learned in real estate school had nothing to do with actually getting clients and closings.  Things today are a lot different than when I first started in real estate... "YouTube and Facebook" didn't exist, I was scared to ask the broker for fear of saying something wrong, and let's just say the agents at the office were not the most friendly.  Basically, if you had a question, you were pretty much on your own to "figure it out".

Broke and in a brand new city, I knew failure was not an option, I had to make this work.  SO I DID.  With very strong determination and the grace of God, I actually made it to the top 10 agent list in my brokerage that first year.

I attended every broker training available, and every day met friends who led me to get clients and close an average of one deal a week (without social media or the Internet).  I was on cloud 9 having the most fun selling real estate and making a ton of money!

Through the years I grew my experience while working with all different clients from first-time homebuyers to representing mega banks.

With having these amazing opportunities to work with all different types of clients and reaching my own version of success, came struggles, tons of 20-hour days of grind, plenty of mistakes, a lot of time and money spent (some good, some wasted), and even some off time from real estate, it's safe to say, I have learned A LOT along the way!

To this day I stay focused, stay positive, continue to learn and let God lead me every step of the way.

Today

Today, I am licensed in Georgia and Louisiana and still work with clients in my market one-on-one (without a brokerage team or assistants - I am the SOLO captain of my ship).  I work on investment projects with other investors and have a referral network with other agents around the US.

I am also on a massive mission to help bring your dreams to life through real estate, let me tell you how this came about...

One day, a real estate friend of mine called me.  This friend was somewhat new to real estate and she reminded me a lot of myself when I first started in the business, with a lot of determination to make it in this business for herself and her family.  Anyway, she called me looking for some advice to generate leads, so I told her what I would do.

About a week later she called me and told me that she did what I had suggested and found a lead and that they had just signed a contract.  Her appreciation and excitement for what I had suggested she do to get leads was overwhelming, there was a sense of relief in her voice that gave me chills.

That night, I tossed and turned thinking about our phone call, her excitement, and thinking back to my 20-year-old self just starting the business.  I thought to myself, "What if I could help other agents with the same struggles by teaching them everything that took me years to figure out", so I prayed on it, and in early 2023 Melissa English Online was born.

I decided to create this brand as a safe space for agents to learn real estate in a way that I wish would have been available for me by knowing exactly what to do step-by-step, no matter the market, and no matter the level of experience.

With 7 months of focus, determination, and heart, I created The Essential Basics For Agents Bootcamp,  which is the powerhouse of my organized thoughts, my experience, and knowledge of what it takes to truly win in this business to help new real estate agents reach their version of success in the fastest amount of time possible.

I invite you to take this special training with me or follow along with me through other social platforms as I share inspiration, tips, and secrets to better help your real estate journey.

I truly am so excited to get to know you and become great real estate friends!  Let's Get It!
